Skoda Superb Multifunction Steering Wheel Issue

Thank you for your response! I have not checked the slip ring, to be honest, I am not entirely sure where to find it or how to test it. Could you perhaps provide a bit more detail on its location and any specific things I should look for? Is it something I can visually inspect, or does it require specialized tools?

Indeed, the slip ring resides within the steering column, directly behind the steering wheel. While a visual inspection might reveal obvious damage to the cable ribbon, diagnosing it definitively often necessitates specialized diagnostic equipment. Given that a defective cable connection is the suspected culprit and considering my experience, I would strongly advise consulting with a qualified technician. It will likely save you time and prevent potential complications with the airbag system or other sensitive components. Based on my repair, 95€ seems like a reasonable estimate.

Thank you very much for your help! I took it to my local mechanic, and as you suspected, it was indeed a defective cable connection in the steering wheel. The final bill was 95€, which I think is acceptable. At least now the malfunction indicator light is off and all the steering controls are working again!

Greetings. I experienced a similar issue with the multifunction steering wheel in my Skoda Superb. The symptoms you describe sound very familiar. Did you happen to check the slip ring, also known as the clock spring, in the steering column? A faulty slip ring can often cause the control module to lose connection with the steering controls, resulting in an error being stored in the error memory.
