Skoda Superb Overheating

I'm really annoyed. My 2002 Skoda Superb with a Gasoline engine is causing problems. The thermostat cooling circuit motor might be broken. The engine is overheating, and it takes a long time to warm up. I think it's the map thermostat, what do you think?

Engine overheating is never good. I had a similar thing with my BMW 3 series, although mine was a diesel. Sounds like a thermostat problem. Have you checked for coolant leaks around the water pump? A failing water pump can cause overheating, but the slow warm-up does suggest the thermostat.

Coolant leak is a good idea. I'll check the water pump area again. When your BMW had the thermostat issue, did it show any error codes, or just the overheating and slow warm-up?

In my case, there weren't any error codes pointing to the thermostat. Just the overheating and slow warm-up like you said. Considering what you've described and the mileage, a defective thermostat is likely. I'd still check the coolant system and water pump, but it sounds like a workshop visit is needed to properly diagnose it.

Yep, that was it. The map thermostat, just like I thought. Cost me 350€, but at least the engine's not overheating anymore. Thanks for confirming what I suspected!
