Thanks for the swift response! How did you check the transmission oil level? Is it something I can do myself, or should I take it to a workshop? Also, did you also experience grinding noises while shifting? The clunking sound makes me nervous.

Checking the oil level on the DSG can be a bit tricky without the right tools and knowledge, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself if you are not confident enough. I would suggest taking it to a workshop to have it checked properly. The grinding noises are definitely not a good sign and could indicate further damage. In my case, after replacing the sensor and topping up the oil, the issue was resolved, but it's best to get a professional opinion to rule out any other underlying problems.

Thank you so much for your help and insights. I took it to a local workshop, and they confirmed that it was indeed a faulty transmission sensor, and also found out that the transmission oil level was too low. They replaced the sensor and topped up the oil. All in, it cost me 365€. Now it seems to be running perfectly.

Sounds like you might be experiencing issues with the transmission sensor. I had similar transmission issues with my Skoda Superb a while back. Error codes, limp mode, and all. First thing's first, have you checked the transmission oil level? Low fluid can definitely throw things off and trigger the sensor. The DSG is quite sensitive.
