Skoda Yeti cold start problems
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Skoda Yeti with a gasoline engine and 210,170 km is experiencing cold start difficulties, rough idle, and engine misfires. The initial suspicion is a fuel injection problem, possibly a defective injection valve. A suggestion is made to check the fuel pressure regulator, as it can cause inconsistent fuel delivery and misfires. Ultimately, a certified shop confirms the issue as a faulty cold start injector, which is repaired, resolving the problem.

Interesting. I hadn't considered the fuel pressure regulator. Where exactly is that located, and is it something I can test myself without special equipment? Is it possible that this issue cause an engine misfire?

Yes, a faulty regulator can absolutely cause misfires due to inconsistent fuel mixture. Honestly, without the right tools (fuel pressure gauge, OBD scanner), diagnosing it yourself can be tricky. Based on your description, it's likely more than just a simple fix. I'd recommend taking it to a trusted mechanic for a proper diagnosis and repair. Could save time and money in the long run.

Took the Yeti to a certified shop as suggested. They confirmed it was a faulty cold start injector, just like we suspected. Repair set me back about 515€, but she's running perfectly now. Thanks again for your help – I really appreciate it!

Sounds familiar. I had similar hard starting and rough idle issues on my old Renault Megane. Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? That was my culprit. A faulty regulator can cause inconsistent fuel delivery, especially during cold starts.
