Skoda Yeti Diesel Oil Pressure Issue

Thanks for the reply. The oil level seems fine when I checked it. Oil sludge is something I hadn't considered. Is there a way to check for that myself, or is it something a mechanic needs to do? Also, regarding the oil type, I usually just go with whatever the local shop recommends during the service. Could using the wrong type of oil contribute to this?

Given the oil level is fine and the light is still on, I would strongly suspect either excessive oil sludge or a faulty oil pressure sensor. Unfortunately, checking for oil sludge generally requires dropping the oil pan, which is best left to a professional. The incorrect oil type or exceeding the service interval can certainly lead to oil sludge. It might be worth taking it to a workshop to get the oil pressure tested and the oil condition inspected. Continuing to drive with low oil pressure can definitely cause engine damage, so it's best to err on the side of caution.

Okay, I appreciate the insight. I took it to a local mechanic, and it turns out you were spot on. The oil was indeed contaminated due to an extended service interval. An oil change, new filter, and some oil additives later, the warning light is gone. The bill came to around 165€. Thanks again for your help!

I've experienced something similar with my Yeti, though I can't say for sure if it's the exact same issue. The oil pressure warning light illuminated intermittently, particularly after longer drives. Have you checked the oil level recently? A low oil level can sometimes trigger the warning. Also, consider the possibility of oil sludge buildup, which can restrict oil flow and affect oil pressure. What oil type are you using?
