When you say 'voltage regulator' are you referring to the alternator's voltage regulator, or is there another component I should be checking? And what do you mean by a power surge? I thought circuit protection was supposed to prevent that sort of thing. Thanks for the help!

Yes, I meant the voltage regulator inside the alternator. If that fails, it can send too much voltage through the system – that's the power surge I was talking about. The circuit protection is supposed to help, but sometimes it's not enough. Honestly, with all those symptoms, it's probably best to get it checked out by a professional. They can properly test the alternator and battery.

The workshop confirmed a defective battery was causing the overvoltage. It was heavily discharged, which I didn't realize could cause such a cascade of problems. A new battery was installed, the fault memory cleared, and everything seems to be running smoothly. Total cost was 290€. Thanks for the input; it pointed me in the right direction!

That sounds like a nightmare! I had a similar experience with my old Vauxhall Astra. It wasn't exactly overvoltage, but I had weird electrical issues and random system failures. What exactly do you mean by overvoltage? How did you determine that was the problem?
