I have encountered a perplexing problem related to overvoltage. The symptoms include numerous fault memory entries indicating overvoltage, the failure of various systems within the vehicle, a weak battery during engine starts, and general electrical malfunctions. My initial suspicion points towards a heavily discharged or defective battery as the likely cause. I am aware that alternator failure can also lead to overvoltage situations, potentially damaging sensitive electronic components due to a power surge if the voltage regulator malfunctions or if there's inadequate circuit protection. Yes, I meant the voltage regulator inside the alternator. If that fails, it can send too much voltage through the system – that's the power surge I was talking about. The circuit protection is supposed to help, but sometimes it's not enough. Honestly, with all those symptoms, it's probably best to get it checked out by a professional. They can properly test the alternator and battery.

The workshop confirmed a defective battery was causing the overvoltage. It was heavily discharged, which I didn't realize could cause such a cascade of problems. A new battery was installed, the fault memory cleared, and everything seems to be running smoothly. Total cost was 290€. Thanks for the input; it pointed me in the right direction!
