Skoda Yeti Sunroof Not Initialized Error

I'm having a weird issue with the sunroof on my 2013 Skoda Yeti with a gasoline engine. It's got about 50849 km on it. I keep getting a "sunroof not initialized" error. The sunblind is stuck in one position, and the convertible top won't open or close. Also, the sunblind doesn't retract or extend anymore. I'm thinking it might be related to some coding that was done on the vehicle, but I'm not sure. Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on sunroof troubleshooting I could try?

That sounds like a frustrating issue! Especially with the sunblind getting stuck. Based on the symptoms you described, specifically the sunroof not initializing and the sunblind issues, it does indeed point towards a coding problem, potentially disrupting the sunroof operation. Have you recently had any work done where the car's computer system might have been accessed or modified? Have you tried any basic troubleshooting like checking fuses related to the sunroof?

I haven't had any work done recently, but I did use an OBD scanner to clear some engine codes a while ago. Could that have messed with the sunroof calibration, even if I wasn't specifically changing anything related to the sunroof control?

Yes, using an OBD scanner, even for unrelated engine codes, can sometimes inadvertently alter or reset other modules if you're not careful, especially if the software isn't fully compatible or if you accidentally accessed a different module during the process. It's likely that the coding was affected, leading to the sunroof malfunction. Given the complexity of the sunroof system and the potential for further issues, it's advisable to have a workshop with Skoda diagnostic tools recalibrate the sunroof. They should be able to address the "sunroof not initialized" error by resetting the sunroof calibration.

Took it to a local shop, and they recalibrated the sunroof control module. A coding error was the culprit, just like you said. Cost me 75€, so not too bad. Thanks a lot for your help!
