Skyline faulty generator symptoms

Hey, I've got a 2023 Nissan Skyline hybrid with about 85590 kilometers on it. I think the generator might be bad. I'm seeing reduced engine power, a warning light, hard starts, and flickering lights. The error memory has a fault stored for it. I checked the serpentine belt, but I'm not sure what to do next. Could it be the generator?

I had a similar issue with my Skyline. Did you check for any voltage drop across the battery terminals while the engine is running? A defective generator can cause significant voltage fluctuations, leading to engine misfires and various car electronics malfunctions. It might be worth investigating the charging system thoroughly.

Thanks! Where should I measure the voltage drop, and what's an acceptable range? Did your Skyline have the same symptoms?

Yes, my Skyline had nearly identical symptoms: reduced power, warning light, poor starting, and flickering lights. Check the voltage drop directly at the battery terminals while the engine is running and under load (e.g., headlights on). A significant drop below 12.6V indicates a problem. Given your symptoms and the error code, I would recommend a visit to a qualified workshop. It sounds like your generator is indeed defective.

Thanks for confirming! I'll get the generator inspected and maybe replaced. I'll mention the voltage drop test, too. The workshop quoted around 960€. Your help is appreciated!
