SM5 MOST Bus Fault

Hi, I'm having a weird issue with my 2017 Renault SM5, gasoline engine. I've got 96690 km on it. The audio system is completely dead, no sound whatsoever. The navigation isn't working either. I scanned for errors and it's showing a MOST bus fault. I'm guessing it's something to do with the data transmission between the control units, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Has anyone encountered this before?

Sounds like a pain! MOST bus issues can be tricky. A defect in one of the control units installed in the MOST bus is quite possible. Have you tried checking the fuses related to the audio system or any of the control modules on the MOST bus? Sometimes a simple blown fuse can cause this kind of widespread problem. It's a long shot, but worth a quick check.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did check the fuses, and they all seem to be fine. Is there any way to isolate which control unit might be causing the problem without specialized equipment? I'm just trying to avoid a huge bill if possible.

Isolating the faulty unit on a MOST bus without proper diagnostic tools is tough, unfortunately. If the fuses are good, it really points towards a deeper issue within one of the modules on the bus. Honestly, with those symptoms and the error code you're getting, you're probably looking at a workshop visit. They'll have the equipment to properly diagnose which module is failing.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I took it to the shop, and you were right – it was a faulty control unit on the MOST bus. Cost me 1000€ to get it sorted, but at least it's fixed.
