SM5 speed signal fault

Hi, I'm having a speed signal fault with my 2013 Renault SM5, gasoline engine, at 221067 km. The ABS lamp is on, and I'm experiencing traction problems, basically the ABS system isn't working. Could a defective control unit be the cause?

Greetings. I once encountered a similar issue with my SM5. The ABS light illuminated, accompanied by traction control malfunctions. It's plausible that the control unit is indeed the culprit, as these systems are interconnected. Have you checked the wheel speed sensors or the wiring harness leading to the ABS module? Faulty data from these components can trigger similar symptoms by sending bad data to the ECM. Also, any issues reported on the dashboard?

Thanks for the reply! I haven't checked the wheel speed sensors yet, I'll add it to the list. What should I be looking for specifically when looking at the dashboard?

You're welcome. When evaluating the dashboard, observe any unusual readings or intermittent behavior of the odometer. Given the correlation between vehicle speed sensing and ABS functionality, anomalies in odometer readings could offer supplementary diagnostic insights into the root cause of the issue. In the absence of specialized diagnostic equipment, it may prove prudent to consult a qualified automotive technician for a comprehensive evaluation.

Thanks for the help and suggestions. After going to a workshop, it turns out the control unit was in fact defective, needed replacing. Cost me around 1000€.
