SMAX air intake leak

I'm experiencing an issue with my 2022 Ford S-MAX gasoline. At 51893 km, I've noticed increased fuel consumption, the check engine light is on, and a loud hissing sound comes from the engine bay during acceleration. I've checked the air filter housing and ducting but can't find the leak. Could this be the intake hose, or something else?

I also own a Ford S-MAX and had similar symptoms: higher fuel consumption and a hissing sound. My check engine light never came on, though. Did you check the vacuum hoses connected to the intake manifold? A leak there could also cause those issues. It's a pretty common problem.

Regarding the vacuum hoses, where are they specifically located and how easy are they to reach in the engine bay? I know the general layout, but pinpointing the exact hoses would be helpful. Also, did you find the leak yourself, or did you need special equipment?

I'm not a mechanic, but I believe the vacuum hoses are near the throttle body and connect to the intake manifold. Honestly, I couldn't find the leak myself; the hissing was faint, and the hoses are somewhat hidden. I took it to a workshop, and they used a smoke test to find a split in one of the hoses. Given your check engine light, I'd suggest doing the same.

That's helpful advice. It seems best to get professional help for a full diagnosis. The smoke test idea is good; I'll ask about it when I contact my local workshop. Thanks for sharing your experience; it's valuable.
