SMAX outside temperature sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford SMAX is experiencing an outside temperature sensor fault, causing issues with the AC, spray nozzles, and mirror heating. The problem is likely due to a faulty sensor or a bad connection, as indicated by the constant display of -40°C. A visit to a garage revealed a broken wire near the sensor connector, which, once repaired, resolved all related issues.

Yeah, the display is just showing -40°C constantly. Where is the sensor located on your SMAX? Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a shop?

Yep, exactly the same issue then. I tried fiddling with the sensor and wiring myself, but no luck. In the end, I just bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a faulty sensor or wiring. Saved me a lot of hassle to be honest.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and they found a broken wire near the sensor connector. 95€ later, everything's working perfectly again. AC is back on, nozzles are spraying, and mirrors are heating. Should've gone to the shop sooner, I guess.

Sounds familiar. I had something similar with my SMAX. Does the indicated outside temperature on the display seem completely off or stuck at a specific value? Like -40°C?
