SMAX rail pressure sensor fault

Alright S-MAX gurus, I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2022 Ford S-MAX hybrid is throwing a fit. Got about 180k kms on the clock. The check engine light is on, the engine keeps stalling at idle, and it feels like I'm driving with half the horses. My OBD reader is screaming about a faulty rail pressure sensor signal. I'm guessing the sensor itself is borked, but is there anything else I should be checking before I start throwing parts at it? Fuel injection seems ok, but could it be the fuel rail?

I had a similar issue with my S-MAX, it's a diesel. Same symptoms. High probability it is the pressure sensor. Are you getting any specific error codes?

Yeah, the code is P0191 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance. Does that sound like the same thing you were dealing with? Any chance you remember what the fix was? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill if I can!

Yep, P0191 was the one. I'd say get it checked out at a reputable workshop to be 100% sure it's not something else. But from the looks of it, seems pretty evident. In my case replacing the pressure sensor sorted it.

Thanks a bunch for the insight! Took it to the shop, and you nailed it. Rail pressure sensor was indeed the culprit. New sensor installed and I'm back on the road, total cost 240€. Appreciate the help!
