Soft Brakes & Warning Lights on VW Scirocco TSI

My brake pedal feels soft and warning lights appeared on the dash. Brake performance is noticeably worse than usual. The mechanic blamed a faulty brake booster pressure sensor but charged way too much for diagnosis alone. Has anyone dealt with similar brake system issues on their 2014 Scirocco 2.0 TSI (53000km)? Looking for advice before getting a second opinion, as my last mechanic experience wasnt great. Would especially like to know about typical replacement parts costs and labor time for this repair.

Had the same brake pedal issues on a 2011 Golf GTI 2.0 TSI. The soft pedal and warning lights turned out to be more serious than just a pressure sensor fault. The hydraulic brakes needed a complete system bleed due to air in the lines, plus the ABS system required recalibration. The root cause was incorrect bleeding procedure during previous maintenance. Air got trapped in the brake lines, causing inconsistent pressure and triggering the ABS warning. A professional brake system diagnosis revealed the actual problem, the original mechanic missed several critical bleeding points. The repair required: Complete brake fluid flush, Systematic bleeding of all brake lines, ABS system electronic reset, Brake pedal pressure sensor replacement, Full system pressure test This kind of brake system issue needs proper diagnostic equipment and expertise. The ABS system must be properly bled using specific procedures. Unusual bleeding points can leave air pockets, causing dangerous brake performance issues. For the Scirocco, the brake system layout is nearly identical to the Golf GTI. The repair should focus on proper bleeding procedure rather than just replacing the pressure sensor. Get a second opinion from a shop with proper diagnostic tools and brake system expertise.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Golf GTI brake issues. My Scirocco had similar problems with the hydraulic brakes and warning lights last summer. The complete system bleed and ABS system reset fixed it completely. Vehicle safety is definitely not something to compromise on. Can you remember roughly how much you paid for the full repair? Also curious if youve had any recurring brake pedal issues since the fix? Would help me gauge if Im getting a fair quote from the new shop Im considering.

Really glad I could help with your Scirocco brake system. After seeing my mechanic, the brake booster pressure sensor failure was completely resolved. The total repair cost came to 90€ for fixing the incorrectly bled brake system. This included a proper system bleed and sensor check. The brake pedal feels firm now and the vehicle safety systems are working perfectly. No warning lights or ABS system alerts since the repair. Brake performance returned to normal immediately after the fix. The key was finding a shop that understood the proper bleeding sequence and had the right diagnostic equipment. The pressure sensor issue was actually just a symptom of trapped air in the brake lines. Having it properly fixed the first time prevented any recurring problems over the past year. A 90€ repair cost is reasonable considering the technical knowledge required for proper brake system bleeding. When it comes to critical brake components, paying for qualified expertise is worth the investment.

I went ahead and had the work done at a different shop that specializes in VW brake systems. The total came to 120€ for a complete brake fluid flush, system bleed, and ABS system calibration. Much more reasonable than the 200€ diagnostic fee the first place wanted to charge. The brake pedal feels properly firm now and all warning lights are off. The hydraulic brakes are working perfectly with no more soft pedal issues. The new mechanic showed me the proper bleeding sequence they used, turns out the first shop completely missed checking for air in the ABS system. Really glad I got that second opinion instead of paying for unnecessary replacement parts. The brake performance is back to factory spec and I feel much safer driving now. Will definitely stick with this new shop for future brake system maintenance.
