I did give the intake hose a quick once-over, but didn't spot anything obvious. I'll check again more thoroughly now that you mention it. Regarding the cold start, I'll pay closer attention tomorrow morning, thanks for the suggestion! Meanwhile, where else should I search for leaks?

Aside from the intake hose itself, also inspect the connections and clamps. A loose clamp can cause a vacuum leak. Honestly, with those symptoms and error codes, the best course is to let a professional take a look - it may be difficult to spot minor cracks. At least they will be able to pinpoint the exact location quickly.

I booked it into the local garage, as you suggested. Turns out the intake hose had a split I missed. They replaced it for 100€ all-in. Symptoms are now gone, and I don't hear the hissing anymore! Thanks for nudging me in the right direction!

Hissing and poor fuel economy definitely point towards an air leak. Have you looked at the intake hose running from the air filter to the throttle body? Those can crack over time, especially with the engine heat cycles. Is the hissing louder when the engine is cold?
