Sonata Hybrid power steering issue

I'm pulling my hair out here. My 2023 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid is giving me grief. The power steering is acting up. I'm getting a vibrating steering wheel, the handling feels spongy, and the car threw an error code related to the steering system. Steering is way harder than it should be, feels like the power steering assist is cutting out. I checked the hydraulic fluid level – it's fine. Any ideas before I lose it?

A faulty power steering system in a relatively new vehicle like your 2023 Sonata Hybrid warrants careful diagnosis. Given the symptoms you describe – vibrating steering wheel, spongy handling, error codes, and increased steering effort – a systematic approach is advisable. Have you had the error codes read? Identifying the specific code will greatly assist in pinpointing the source of the issue. Moreover, has the vehicle undergone any recent maintenance or repairs that might have inadvertently affected the steering system?

Yeah, I scanned the error memory and it shows a fault in the power steering module itself. Nothing has been done on the car recently, other than regular oil changes. Could it be something simple like a bad connection or a faulty sensor?

The error code referencing the power steering module, in conjunction with your observations, does suggest an electrical issue as a plausible cause. A defective cable or plug connection to the component is possible. However, considering the car's age and mileage, a thorough inspection by a qualified technician is crucial to rule out any internal component failure within the steering system. I would recommend taking it to a trusted workshop for professional diagnosis.

Thanks for the advice. You were spot on! Took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a loose connector on the steering pump. They cleaned it, reconnected it properly, and the problem is gone. Total cost was only 95€, thankfully! Appreciate the help.
