Sonic Adaptive Headlight Malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Chevrolet Sonic is experiencing adaptive headlight range control issues, with an error and warning light indicating a problem. The low beam's direction is incorrect, either too high or too low, while the light intensity remains unaffected. The suspected cause is a defective servomotor, similar to issues experienced by others with different vehicles. The recommended solution is to have a professional workshop diagnose and potentially replace the faulty servomotor or headlight unit.

Thanks. The light intensity seems normal, the problem is only with the beam direction. Did your Volvo show the same error messages?

Yep, similar error codes stored. After messing with it and checking fuses, I gave up and took it to a workshop. They confirmed a faulty servomotor and replaced the whole headlight unit due to limited part availability. A visit to the workshop will be inevitable if you don't want to replace the servomotor yourself.

Understood, thank you. It seems that the defective servomotor is indeed the most plausible explanation. I appreciate the guidance, I will take it to the local shop and let them handle the repair rather than replace any parts myself. I will post the solution when I have one. Final repair was 1040€.

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar headache with my old Volvo. The auto-leveling headlights went haywire. It was like the car was constantly nodding 'yes' or staring at its shoes. Is the light intensity also affected, or is it just the beam direction?
