Faulty valve, you say? I've not checked the electrical connection, just visually inspected the hoses. Where exactly was the valve located on your Insignia? It might give me a clue where to look more closely on the SpaceTourer.

On the Insignia, the purge valve was near the intake manifold, easily accessible once the engine cover was removed. Given the similarities in engine management systems, I would advise inspecting that area on your SpaceTourer. However, with a blocked hose being a strong possibility, it is also pertinent to consider the amount of labor required to clear the blockage against the cost of professional diagnosis. It might be a false economy not to engage a qualified technician.

I took it to the shop; hoses were indeed clogged, as suspected. New hoses, new valve, and a good clean of the system set me back 175€. Runs like a dream now.

The symptoms suggest an issue with the EVAP system, specifically the tank ventilation, also known as the purge valve. This system prevents fuel vapors from escaping. When it malfunctions, it can cause a check engine light and idling problems. I had a similar situation with my 2014 Opel Insignia. In my case, the valve itself was faulty. Did you check the electrical connection to the valve?
