Speedometer light and suspicion of worn brakes on 2020 Ford C-MAX

Hey guys, I'm a bit worried about my 2020 Ford C-MAX with a gasoline engine and 114,178 km on the odometer. Last time I drove it, a warning light came on in the speedometer and I have a feeling it has something to do with worn brakes. Have any of you ever been through anything similar and what was your experience at your mechanic? I really can't complain about my last visit to the mechanic. Thanks in advance!

Hello, don't worry! I had a similar problem with my 2017 Ford Focus. In my case, it was a communication problem between the control units. My mechanic jacked the car up and had a look underneath. He had to remove some components and check them. It turned out that some connections were not working properly and were interfering with the signals between the control units. So he had to both clean the connections and reset the ECU software. It was definitely a bit of a pain and took a day, but don't worry, it's not a disaster. P.S. It could also be that your ABS sensors are just a bit dusty, which can also cause the warning lights to come on. It's best to have it checked. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to know that it doesn't have to be a disaster. Do you happen to remember what you ended up paying for the whole thing? And did you have to struggle with anything afterwards, or did everything run like clockwork? Hope your Ford is doing well! Thanks in advance!

Hey, sure, no problem! If I remember correctly, I had to pay around €955 to fix the communication problem between the control units. Not exactly a penny, I know, but my old Ford has been running smoothly ever since. And to come back to your suspicion about the brakes: There was actually something wrong with my car too, they were pretty worn out. But since the visit to the mechanic, this has been fixed and I no longer have any problems. I hope I was able to help you and that your Ford C-MAX will soon be fit again!

Thank you! That really helps me. Wow, €955 is quite a chunk, but if the car drives like it did before, it might be worth it. I definitely need to have a look at the brakes. I hope it's nothing too bad with my C-MAX and that it gets going again soon! Thanks again for your explanations and advice! Stay safe and keep your Ford safe too!
