Spider Electric Steering Column Failure

My '99 Renault Spider (gasoline engine, 174416 km) has a dead electric steering column adjustment. An error is logged. I'm guessing it's a dodgy cable or plug. Anyone seen this before?

Summary of the thread

A 1999 Renault Spider experienced a failure in the electric steering column adjustment, with an error logged. The initial suspicion was a faulty cable or plug. Suggestions included checking fuses and considering a possible sensor issue. Ultimately, the problem was identified as a corroded connector, which was resolved at a local shop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds like a fun one! Have you checked the fuses? Does the error code give you any more specific details besides "defective"? Could be a sensor issue as well.

Good shout on the fuses, will double check. The error code is annoyingly vague, just points to the adjustment motor circuit. Whereabouts would I find the sensor you mentioned?

If the code is that generic, and fuses are good, a wiring issue is most likely. The sensor, if present on your model, would be near the motor itself. Honestly, chasing electrical gremlins in the steering is sketchy. I'd get it to a workshop before ripping into it.

Cheers for the advice. Took it to a local shop, and it was indeed a corroded connector as suspected. 95€ later and it's sorted. Appreciate the heads up!
