Spider NOx Sensor Failure

Hi, I'm having some trouble with my 1999 Renault Spider, gasoline engine. The check engine light keeps coming on, and I pulled the error code which indicates a NOx sensor failure. I also noticed an exhaust leak recently. I suspect the cable or plug connection to the sensor is defective, but I'm not sure where to start. Has anyone experienced this before? My car has 140093 km.

Ugh, NOx sensors! I've had a similar issue with my Spider. Check your catalytic converter. If your exhaust is leaking, then the air-fuel ratio for the emission sensor is probably off, making the sensor go crazy.

Thanks for the quick reply! So, you're saying the exhaust leak could be causing the NOx sensor error? Did you have the same symptoms before you fixed yours?

Precisely! In my instance, the sensor error was a direct result of the exhaust leak throwing everything out of whack. I'd recommend having it professionally looked at. I had to get my catalytic converter replaced, and it was a pain.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate the help. I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed a bad NOx sensor, likely due to the exhaust leak as you suggested. They're quoting me 95€ for the repair. I'll get it sorted!
