Spin Anti-Theft Alarm Malfunction

Hey, I'm having a strange issue with my 2012 Chevrolet Spin diesel. The anti-theft alarm keeps malfunctioning. I'm getting an error stored in the error memory, but the alarm itself isn't working at all. The car has only done 42049 km. I wonder if anyone has experienced anything similar?

Summary of the thread

The 2012 Chevrolet Spin diesel is experiencing a malfunction with its anti-theft alarm, which is not functioning despite an error being stored in the error memory. Possible causes include battery issues, where a weak car battery might not provide enough power for the alarm system, or a problem with the alarm sensors. Suggested solutions include checking the car battery and alarm coding, and visiting a reliable workshop to have the error memory checked for further diagnosis.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Okay, so the alarm's throwing an error but not actually alarming? That's weird. I had something kinda similar happen with my old Peugeot. The car would randomly think it was being broken into, even though nothing was happening. It drove me nuts! Did you check if there are any battery issues maybe?

Battery issues? You mean like a low battery in the car or something related to the alarm system's own power source? I haven't looked into that specifically. I was thinking it might be one of the alarm sensors.

Yeah, a weak car battery can cause all sorts of electrical gremlins. The system might not be getting enough juice to function properly, triggering false alarms or disabling the system altogether. On the Peugeot, it ended up being some weird coding thing where the alarm was set to activate the lights during locking. Anyway, I would recommend going to a reliable workshop and have your error memory checked. The repair of my car was 45€ in the end.

Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely check the battery and look into the alarm coding. The optical locking is an interesting idea. I will go to the workshop as you said. Sounds like it's worth investigating. I appreciate the help!
