Sprinter alarm system malfunction

My 2006 Mercedes Sprinter with a gasoline engine has a non-functional alarm system and a siren communication fault is stored I suspect a defective cable or plug connection Has anyone encountered a similar issue I anticipate an eventual repair cost of around 95€

Interesting problem I had a somewhat similar experience with my old Volvo The alarm would randomly go off, and it turned out to be a wiring issue near the alarm module I am not a mechanic, and my knowledge is limited, but did you check all the alarm system related fuses Also, is there any chance that the alarm system was recently wet I remember reading somewhere about moisture ingress causing problems with some car alarms Maybe also try an alarm reset Just disconnect the battery for a while and see if that clears the fault

Thank you for your response Regarding the alarm reset, how long would you recommend disconnecting the battery for Also, where is the alarm module located on the Volvo I need to perform fault detection to see if the location is similar in the Mercedes

You are welcome On the Volvo, the alarm module was under the hood, near the front of the car, but I do not believe the location will be similar in the Mercedes I would suggest disconnecting the battery for at least 30 minutes Honestly, with this kind of an issue it might be best to go to a workshop They will be able to diagnose the wiring issue more quickly and accurately than I could advise

Thank you for the advice It appears the wiring issue was indeed the culprit After inspecting the connections and making the appropriate adjustments, the error has been resolved The alarm system is now functioning correctly and the fault has been cleared
