Sprinter gasoline engine rough idle and misfire

My 2008 Mercedes Sprinter with the gasoline engine, about 100749 km, is running rough, almost stalling when idling. The check engine light is on, and it's jerking noticeably when accelerating. Codes point to a misfire, possibly a defective ignition coil. Spark plugs look okay. I suspect a dodgy cable or plug connection to the coil. Has anyone seen this with these vans ignition systems? Any pointers before I start?

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Honda Civic (completely different car, I know). Engine stalling and all that jazz. I don't know much about cars, but is the ignition coil hard to replace?

So, you had engine stalling and misfires too? Did the check engine light come on as well? And what was the fix in your case? Was it actually the ignition coil itself, or something else entirely? Trying to get a better picture before I dive in too deep.

Yep, check engine light was on, the whole shebang. Honestly, I was clueless, so I just took it to a workshop. They figured it out, and it was indeed the ignition coil. Cost me a pretty penny, but it solved the problem. Maybe it's best to get it checked out by a professional?

Thanks for the info! Ended up being a faulty ignition coil, just like the codes suggested. Replaced it myself; the cable connection looked fine. Parts cost around 95€, which isn't too bad. Runs like a champ now, no more engine stalling or jerking. Appreciate the input!
