Sprinter height control restricted warning light

I've got a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter, gasoline engine, with about 271034 km on it. Lately, I've been getting a 'Height Control Restricted' warning light popping up on the speedometer. It seems like the low beams are pointing either too far down or too far up, and the van is sitting unevenly – the front axle looks to be at a different height compared to the rear. To top it off, the ride feels really bumpy. I scanned for error codes, and there's definitely something stored in the memory related to the height adjustment system. From what I've read, it might be a defective control rod on the leveling sensor. Anyone else run into something similar with their air suspension? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill, but everything seems to point to a suspension issue.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Sprinter. Check your leveling sensor. The control rod might be the culprit like you said. Is the air suspension working?

Thanks for the quick response! When you say 'check the leveling sensor', what exactly did you do? Did you just visually inspect it, or did you do some kind of electrical testing? And yes, I think the air suspension is still technically 'working', as in, it's not completely deflated or anything. It's just uneven and throwing the error.

I just did a visual inspection and it was pretty obvious the rod was broken. Since it's an automotive suspension issue, I suggest you visit a workshop.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on – it was indeed a defective control rod on the leveling sensor. The damage wasn't too bad, and they replaced the control rod for around 110€. The height adjustment warning is gone, the lights are level, and the ride is smooth again!
