Sprinter oil level sensor issue

My 2006 Mercedes Sprinter with a diesel engine throws an oil level sensor error. The speedometer displays an error message and a warning light, and the oil pressure warning lamp illuminates. The error memory also stores the fault. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection on the automotive oil level sensor itself. Has anyone seen this before?

Sounds like a potential wiring issue to the oil level sensor as you suspected. Before replacing the sensor, have you checked the wiring harness and connector for any visible damage, corrosion, or loose pins? Also, could you verify if the oil level displayed on the oil gauge, assuming your Sprinter has one, corresponds with the actual oil level in the engine? It might help to rule out other problems with the oil monitoring system.

I will check the wiring, thanks. However, where exactly is the oil level sensor located on this engine? That would help me a lot.

Okay, that makes sense. The oil level sensor is typically located on the lower part of the engine's oil pan. Given the symptoms and your initial suspicion, it's likely a faulty sensor or wiring issue. If you're not comfortable tracing the wiring or replacing the sensor yourself, consider taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the location tip. After checking the wiring, the error persists. The sensor is the problem. Replaced it, cost 95€. Error is gone.
