SRX Navigation System & Electrical Failures Troubleshooting

Has anyone dealt with electrical issues in their 2015 SRX? My navigation system stopped working completely and the car throws general electrical error codes. I suspect a software bug might be causing these problems since multiple systems are affected at once. The control unit seems to be acting up but I want to avoid replacing parts unnecessarily. Looking for feedback from others who had similar issues, what was the actual problem and did a software update or ECU recalibration fix it? Really interested in hearing what repair solutions worked for you and roughly what it cost to fix.

I faced a similar issue with my 2013 Cadillac CTS. As someone with moderate experience working on cars, I can share my troubleshooting journey. The symptoms matched yours, multiple electrical systems acting up and error codes appearing. Initially thought it was a failing battery or alternator, but diagnostic tests showed the control module was the culprit. The workshop identified a software bug in the vehicle software that required a complete recalibration. They performed a software reset and reprogramming of the control module. The total repair cost was 240€, which included diagnostic time and the actual reprogramming. The fix resolved all issues, navigation started working properly, error codes cleared, and all electrical systems returned to normal operation. Before suggesting more specific solutions, what error codes is your car showing? Have you had any recent battery or electrical work done? Does the issue occur more frequently after cold starts or during specific weather conditions? Are there any other electrical components affected besides navigation? This information would help determine if your issue matches what I experienced or if its something different.

Latest service was at 82500 KM, about 3 months ago. A software update ended up being the solution for my electrical issues. The dealership performed a complete software reset and recalibration of the main control module which fixed both the navigation and error codes. They found a software malfunction in the system that was causing multiple modules to report errors simultaneously. Total repair cost came to 290€ including diagnostics. The vehicle software update took about 2 hours to complete. All systems have been working perfectly since then with no recurring issues. For anyone else facing similar problems, definitely have them check for available software updates before replacing hardware components.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad to hear the software reset resolved your issues too. My CTS had nearly identical symptoms, and like yours, it was fixed through software rather than hardware replacement. These software bugs seem to be a known issue in our generation of Cadillacs. The onboard diagnostics often flag general electrical malfunctions when the root cause is actually in the ECU programming. Getting these software-related problems diagnosed correctly saved us both from unnecessary parts replacement. Since my repair 8 months ago, I haven't experienced any recurrence of the issues. The 240€ I spent was definitely worth it compared to the potential cost of replacing control modules or other components. The software update time was similar too, took about 2.5 hours at the shop. For monitoring purposes, have you noticed any warning lights or navigation glitches since the update? Mine has been completely stable, but its good to keep track of any potential software malfunctions that might show up in future updates.

Good to hear from you again. Since the software update was completed, everything has been running perfectly, no warning lights or navigation issues at all. Makes me feel better knowing your CTS has also stayed problem-free for 8 months after the same fix. The vehicle software update really was the right solution. The onboard diagnostics now show all systems operating normally. Comparing costs, the 290€ I paid seems standard since you mentioned 240€ for a similar control unit recalibration and software reset. Just want to emphasize for others facing these problems, get the software checked first. The dealer initially suggested replacing several components at a much higher cost. By insisting on checking for software issues first, I avoided unnecessary parts replacement and saved a lot of money. The software update resolved everything and the car runs like new again. I will keep monitoring for any unusual behavior, but after 3 months of flawless operation, I'm confident the software fix took care of the root problem.
