Stepwgn Brake Light Failure

Alright gurus, need your collective brainpower! My 2019 Honda Stepwgn hybrid is throwing a fit. Mileage is at 213233 km. The brake lights decided to take a permanent vacation, and the dashboard is screaming about it. I've got an error stored too, checked with my cheap OBD2 scanner. I'm guessing it's the brake light switch playing up? Anyone seen this before? I am going bonkers, HELP!

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Honda Stepwgn hybrid experienced a brake light failure, with an error code indicating a potential issue. The initial suspicion was a malfunctioning brake light switch. However, after checking the bulbs and connections, it was discovered that the connector had been accidentally disconnected. Reconnecting it resolved the issue without any cost, highlighting the importance of checking simple connections before considering more complex repairs.

Greetings. I have experienced a similar issue with my Stepwgn. The symptoms you describe align with a malfunctioning brake light switch. It is plausible that the switch is the root cause, particularly given the error memory indication. Have you verified the functionality of the bulbs themselves, ensuring they have not simply failed?

Thanks for the quick reply! Bulbs are fine, checked them first thing. I even swapped them out just to be absolutely sure. Still nothing. So, you're saying it's likely the brake light switch too? Any idea how much of a pain it is to replace?

Given that you have eliminated the bulbs as a potential cause, and considering the error code present, the brake light switch remains the most probable source of the malfunction. While a replacement appears straightforward in theory, I must advise proceeding with caution if you lack experience with automotive electrical systems. Incorrect handling could lead to further complications. A qualified workshop should be able to resolve the problem swiftly and efficiently.

You were spot on. Turns out, I managed to accidentally kick the connector loose while rummaging under the dash (don't ask!). Clicked it back in, and everything's perfect. So, zero cost! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Sometimes it's the simplest things!
