A 2005 Fiat Stilo diesel is experiencing intermittent starting issues, occasional engine shutdowns while driving, and rough running. I did notice some flickering before one of the engine stalls. And yes, the key turn occasionally feels somewhat 'loose' or less definite than usual. Could you elaborate on your experience?

Yes, that sounds like what I experienced. Given the dashboard light behavior and the issue with the key turn, I would strongly suspect an issue within the ignition switch itself. I ended up taking mine to a workshop; they were able to diagnose the problem quickly and replace the faulty components.

Based on your advice, I took the car to a repair shop, and they confirmed it was indeed a faulty ignition switch. The repair cost was 52€.

I had a very similar problem with my Stilo. The symptoms you describe, particularly the engine cutting out and the rough running, sound very familiar. Did you notice if the dashboard lights behaved strangely when the engine stalled, or whether turning the key in the ignition felt different from normal before the engine start failures started?
