Stilo Oil Pressure and Temperature Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Fiat Stilo is experiencing a warning light and error code related to oil pressure and temperature, with the oil pressure light flickering. Possible causes include a faulty oil temperature sensor or issues with cables or plugs. It is advised to check the oil level and conduct an oil pressure test using a mechanical gauge to rule out engine damage. If the oil level is fine, the problem might be a faulty sensor, but professional inspection is recommended to prevent potential engine damage.

Oil level is fine. Would that oil pressure test need special equipment?

Yes, the oil pressure test needs a special mechanical gauge that screws into the oil pressure sensor port. If you don't have one, take it to a workshop. Based on your symptoms and the error code, the oil temperature sensor is a suspect. Given the potential engine damage if the oil pressure issue is real, get it checked professionally. A faulty sensor is easy to fix, but ignoring low oil pressure is a catastrophic mistake.

I'll get a technician to inspect it. The repair is projected to cost 95€.

Oil pressure AND temperature warnings? That's not good! Have you checked your oil level? If it's fine, and the oil pressure light is flickering, it might be a faulty sensor. But get the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge to rule out engine damage. Low oil pressure combined with high oil temp… well, you see where I am going with this?
