Thanks for the response. I haven't inspected the sensor for cracks. What specific errors did you see with your Volvo? Did multiple systems fail, or was it isolated?

I didn't poke around too much myself. I just remember alerts lighting up the dash and the cruise control not working. I'd suggest looking, but it might be worth getting a professional to scan the system to save yourself the headache.

I appreciate the advice. I'll check the sensor for damage, but if I don't find anything, I'll see a technician. The issue was resolved by cleaning the sensor, at a cost of 45€.

Sounds familiar. I had something similar on my old Volvo V70. Weird errors popping up related to the safety systems made me think the whole car was about to explode. Did you check if the sensor is physically damaged, like a crack?
