Strada Boost Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2006 Fiat Strada experiencing issues such as a check engine light, jerking during acceleration, a whistling noise, engine stalling, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. The suspected cause is a faulty boost pressure sensor, possibly due to a defective cable or plug. Suggested solutions include checking the sensor connections for corrosion or looseness and potentially visiting a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair.

Thanks! I will check right away. When yours failed, did you experience the same symptoms (jerking, whistling, stalling)? Was it an easy fix, or did it require specialized tools?

Yes, all those symptoms sound painfully familiar! While I initially thought I could fix it myself, I needed a scan tool to properly diagnose and then reset the check engine light. The sensor itself might be accessible, but you might need to visit a workshop anyway. The repair itself isn't rocket science but you might need it in the end, so better bring it checked by a professional!

Much appreciated! I suspected as much. I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted mechanic. The estimated cost for the boost pressure sensor replacement came out to around 95€ which sounds reasonable. Thanks again!

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue on my Fiat Strada, though I can't recall the exact year. It was acting like it had asthma – wheezing and struggling to breathe when I put my foot down. The problem was the boost sensor, like you suspected. Have you checked the connections to it? They can get corroded or loose.
