Summary of the thread
A 2021 Fiat Strada diesel with 154,000 km is experiencing power loss and excessive smoke, particularly during acceleration. Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, the engine warning light is on. Just out of curiosity, what ultimately caused the issue with your Opel Astra? And what did you have to do to fix it?

In my case, the diesel particulate filter was indeed defective. It appears these filters can become clogged or damaged over time, especially with higher mileage. I suggest taking your Fiat Strada to a reputable workshop for a diagnostic check. They can properly assess the DPF and any related sensor faults, which could also contribute to the problem.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and it turns out you were right. The diesel particulate filter was indeed defective and needed replacing. The total repair cost was 1550€. Hopefully, this will improve fuel efficiency as well.

Your symptoms suggest a potential issue with the diesel particulate filter (DPF), as you suspected. Reduced engine power and excessive smoke are classic indicators. I encountered a similar problem with my previous vehicle, a 2016 Opel Astra diesel. Was the engine warning light activated?
