Strada Gearbox Slipping and Won't Start
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Fiat Strada diesel is experiencing starting issues, a check engine light, and a slipping gearbox. Diagnostic codes indicate problems with the automatic transmission and park brake, leading to suspicion of a faulty control unit. A similar case confirmed the control unit as the cause, suggesting a professional diagnosis and repair, potentially costing around 1000€.

Yeah, exactly! The shifter feels like it's stuck even when it's in neutral. Was it the control unit in your case too? How much did that set you back?

Control unit, spot on. But don't get your hopes up about a cheap fix. You'll need to get it properly diagnosed, but if the symptoms are the same, start saving. I would suggest that you visit a workshop nearby.

Thanks for confirming. I was dreading that it was the control unit. Looks like I'm in for about 1000€ repair at the workshop. Really appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Strada. Error codes and everything. Does it feel like the shift lock is engaged even when it shouldn't be? Is it difficult to move the gear shifter? The error memory may be full because of this issue, and is probably preventing the engine from starting.
