Stream AC Problem
Summary of the thread
The air conditioning in a 2006 Honda Stream stopped cooling and wouldn't switch on. After checking the fuses, which were fine, the issue was suspected to be related to a defect in the internal valves of the AC system. A slight rattling noise was noted before the system failed, indicating a potential valve problem. Professional diagnosis confirmed faulty valves, which were repaired at a cost of 1000€.

Now that you mention it, there was a slight rattling noise a week or so before it went completely. Could a faulty valve really cause the whole system to shut down like that?

Yes, a defective valve can certainly cause the symptoms you are describing. A failing valve can prevent the compressor from building pressure, which results in a lack of cooling and the system potentially shutting down completely as a safety measure. I would advise having the system professionally diagnosed to confirm the source of the problem.

Thanks for the tip. Took it to a workshop, and you were right – faulty valves in the AC system. Cost me 1000€ to repair.

I had a similar issue with my Stream. Have you noticed any unusual noise coming from the AC compressor area before it stopped working? It could be a defect in one of the internal valves.
