Suburban exhaust back pressure sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Suburban diesel with 221,488 km is experiencing a warning light, excessive smoke during acceleration, and non-functioning DPF regeneration. The issue is suspected to be related to the exhaust back pressure sensor. After checking the sensor connections and confirming they were fine, it was determined that the sensor was defective. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem.

Yes, I checked the connections, and they seem fine. Is there any chance the sensor reading could be off without it being completely defective? Did you also have to replace the sensor?

In my case, the sensor was indeed defective. It's best to get it checked at a workshop to be sure, but I'd bet on sensor replacement.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor. Replaced it for 245€. Problem solved.

I had a similar issue with my Suburban. Same symptoms. Have you checked the sensor connections? It might be a faulty sensor giving bad readings.
