Superb audio system failure

My 2004 Skoda Superb, gasoline engine, has developed a weird problem. The audio system just died. No sound at all. I scanned it, and there's an error stored, but the shop says the display is probably defective. Has anyone encountered anything like this? I'm worried about the audio quality after repair, and I'm not sure I want to spend 725€ if it's a lost cause.

Sounds like a defective display. I had a similar issue with my Superb. Does the volume control act erratically, or is there just no sound at all?

Interesting! Yeah, the dashboard controls seem unresponsive sometimes, and I've noticed some static noise even when the volume is supposedly at zero. Was that similar to your experience?

Yep, static noise and unresponsive volume control are classic symptoms. It points to the display unit being faulty. A shop visit is probably your best bet to confirm and get it sorted.

Took it to a shop. They confirmed it was the display unit itself, just like you said. Bill came to 725€, but the sound system is finally working again! Thanks for your help!
