Supra Stalling and Power Loss

I'm having some trouble with my 2000 Toyota Supra IV (gasoline engine). It's got 171914 km on it. The check engine light is on, the engine stalls at idle sometimes, and I've noticed a definite reduction in engine power. I'm suspecting it might be related to the fuel volume regulator. Any ideas?

That sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Supra. Have you checked the high-pressure fuel pump? In my case, it was faulty and causing inconsistent fuel pressure. It's like trying to run a marathon with a clogged air passage.

Interesting! So, if the high-pressure fuel pump is defective, would that directly cause the fuel volume regulator to malfunction or show as defective during diagnostics?

Yes, a failing high-pressure fuel pump can definitely impact the fuel volume regulator. The regulator struggles to maintain the correct fuel pressure if the pump isn't providing a consistent supply. Think of it like a dam struggling to control water flow when the river feeding it is fluctuating wildly. I'd advise getting it checked at a reputable workshop.

Thanks for the advice! It turns out the high-pressure pump was indeed the culprit. The repair cost me 1510€, but at least the Supra is running smoothly again.
