Suzuki Alto Misfire Issues: Power Loss & Rough Idle

I had my last service at 168000 KM and they found the root cause, it was actually the ignition coils that failed on cylinder 2. The spark plugs were also quite worn which made the cylinder misfire issue worse. The check engine light code indicated a clear misfire. Workshop confirmed poor spark was causing incomplete combustion. Total repair costs were 320€ which covered: 2 new ignition coils, Full set of spark plugs, Labor and diagnostics Engine now runs perfectly smooth with proper power delivery. Important to catch these issues early before they cause more serious damage.

Thanks for sharing the outcome. Our cars definitely had similar symptoms but different root causes. While my Swift had the fuel injector issue, interesting to hear your Alto's rough idle came from failed ignition coils and worn plugs. Makes sense that both problems caused cylinder misfire symptoms, whether its poor fuel delivery like in my case or incomplete combustion from weak spark in yours. The rough idle and power loss feel very similar to the driver. Your repair cost was actually better than mine at 320€ vs my 515€ fuel injector job. Glad you got it sorted before the combustion misfire could cause additional engine damage. These symptoms rarely fix themselves and usually get worse over time. For future reference for others reading, when experiencing rough idle and jerky acceleration, worth checking both fuel and ignition systems since they can show such similar symptoms. The workshop should test: Fuel injector spray patterns, Fuel pump pressure, Ignition coil output, Spark plug condition Getting proper diagnosis first saves replacing parts unnecessarily.

Had almost the exact same symptoms on my 2011 Suzuki Swift. Started with rough idle and engine misfiring that got worse during acceleration. Like yours, the check engine light came on and the power delivery felt inconsistent. After some diagnostic work, the workshop found a faulty fuel injector causing cylinder misfire. They tested all injectors and one was definitely not spraying properly. The poor fuel delivery was making the engine run rough and causing the performance issues. The total repair came to 515€ including: New injector, Cleaning of remaining injectors, Labor costs, Basic diagnostic fee Since the fix, the engine runs smooth again with no more misfiring or rough idle issues. The check engine light cleared and hasn't come back. To help diagnose your case better: Have you checked if the issue gets worse under load? Did you notice any unusual fuel consumption? Can you feel which part of the engine the roughness comes from? Has any diagnostic scan been done to check for error codes? With these details, I could share more specific insights from my experience. These symptoms often point to fuel delivery or ignition system problems, but proper diagnosis is important.
