Suzuki APV Massage Seat Error: DIY Fix Guide & Costs

Looking for advice on my 2013 Suzuki APV massage seat troubles. The massage function stopped working completely and theres an error code stored. The seat motor and electrical issues started recently at 146960km. Has anyone experienced something similar with their automotive seats? Concerned about getting overcharged at the mechanic again after my last bad experience. Any tips on common causes or estimated repair costs would be great.

Had a similar issue with my 2016 Suzuki Swift. The massage seat function failed due to damaged wiring harness connecting to the seat control module. The automotive seats diagnostic revealed several fault codes related to the electrical issue. Main issues found: Frayed wiring near the seat base, Corroded connector pins, Loose ground connection The repair involved removing the car upholstery partially to access the wiring. The massage chair components needed thorough inspection as multiple connection points were affected. This was a moderately serious issue since damaged wiring could potentially affect other electrical systems. Common causes for massage seat failures: Water damage to connectors, Worn wire insulation from seat movement, Failed control module, Damaged power supply cables Recommend having a proper electrical diagnostic done first. Replacing just the visible components without checking the whole circuit often leads to recurring issues. The repair requires specialized knowledge of automotive electrical systems and proper testing equipment.

Really appreciate the detailed response about the wiring issues. My massage setting problems sound very similar. Did you remember roughly what you paid for the full repair? Also wondering if youve had any other seat motor troubles since getting it fixed? The repair estimate I got seemed quite high at 850€ for parts and labor. Just trying to gauge if thats reasonable before proceeding with the work. The switch failure they mentioned does match your description of connector problems.

After getting my Suzuki Swift checked by the mechanic, the massage seat issue turned out to be much simpler than expected. The switch failure was traced to a loose cable connection near the control module, which explained the erratic massage setting behavior. The final repair cost came to just 95€, mainly for diagnostic work and fixing the faulty connection. That 850€ estimate you received sounds excessive for what could be a basic electrical issue. Since the repair last year, my seat motor and massage functions have worked flawlessly with no further problems. This turned out to be a common issue where connectors can work loose over time due to regular seat movement. Based on my experience, I would suggest getting a second opinion before agreeing to any major component replacements. Sometimes these automotive seats just need proper inspection and reconnection of existing parts rather than costly new components.

Thank you for the information about the repair costs. After getting several opinions, I finally took my APV to a different mechanic who specializes in automotive electrical systems. The massage chair diagnosis revealed a similar connector issue to what you described. They found a damaged wire near the seat motor that was causing the switch failure. Total repair came to 220€ including: Electrical diagnostic testing, Rewiring the damaged section, Cleaning corroded connectors, Testing all massage settings Much better than the 850€ quote from the first place. The massage seat functions are now working perfectly. No error codes showing up anymore. Definitely learned my lesson about getting multiple opinions for electrical issues. The whole repair took about 3 hours and they even showed me the exact problem areas under the seat.
