Sylphy belt tensioner failure
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Nissan Sylphy is experiencing a problem with a defective belt tensioner, specifically the belt handover mechanism. The issue is not with the tensioner pulley, which appears to be in good condition, but rather with the belt bringer/handover itself. The suggested solution is to have the defective belt tensioner replaced, as confirmed by a local shop.

Yep, tensioner pulley looks fine. It's the actual belt bringer/handover that's not doing its job. Was that the same for you, or was it the pulley in your case?

Ah, I see. Mine was the pulley itself, completely seized. If the handover is the issue, and you've confirmed the pulley is okay, you're probably right about the defective part. Sounds like a job for the workshop.

Cheers. Local shop confirmed it: defective belt tensioner. Quoted 455€ for the repair. Thanks for the input!

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Exact same symptoms. Belt started squealing and the handover was completely shot. I'm no expert, but have you checked the tensioner pulley itself for any play or damage?
