T-Cross Audio System Goes Silent Despite Power On

My fairly new T-Cross has a completely dead audio system. No radio, no Bluetooth, nothing, just total radio silence. Tried the auxiliary input and still no sound through any of the car speakers. The system powers on fine but there is zero audio output. Has anyone dealt with something similar on their 2023 model? The car has only 18544km and running perfectly otherwise. Just wondering if I should expect a major repair bill at the dealer or if there are known fixes for this.

Had a similar audio connectivity issue with my 2020 VW Taigo last winter. The complete sound system shutdown matches what you describe, no output from any source including auxiliary input and Bluetooth. The root cause turned out to be a failed amplifier module, not just a blown speaker or fuse as initially suspected. The amp module handles all audio processing and distribution to the speakers. When it fails, you get exactly these symptoms, system powers up but complete silence. Took it to the dealer since it affected the entire sound system. The repair involved replacing the amplifier unit and recalibrating the audio system. While not a quick fix, it was fully covered under warranty since it was a verified component failure. Given your T-Cross is still quite new with low mileage, this should likely be covered under warranty as well. Would recommend having the dealer diagnose it rather than attempting DIY fixes, as modern audio systems are quite integrated with other vehicle electronics. The symptoms point to either an amplifier failure or main audio control module issue rather than individual speaker problems. These components rarely fail without cause, so they will also check the wiring harness for any signs of water damage or loose connections.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My T-Cross had exactly this radio silence issue about 6 months ago. The sound system was completely dead, no radio, no sound from any source. The dealer found a faulty connection in the main audio module that was causing the total system failure. I am curious, how much did the repair cost you? My fix was around 380€ parts and labor, but I was just outside the warranty period. Also, have you noticed any sound distortion or other audio problems since getting it fixed? Sometimes these electrical gremlins can come back in different ways.

The amplifier replacement and volume control calibration ended up costing 280€ total since my warranty had expired. Significantly less than expected given the complexity of modern car audio systems. The sound system has been working flawlessly since the repair, no audio connectivity issues or distortion at all. The Bluetooth connection is stable and the sound quality through all speakers is perfect. The bass speaker was actually the culprit in my case, not the full amplifier unit as initially suspected. Based on the symptoms you described, seems we both experienced similar audio system failures, though caused by different components. These integrated sound systems can be tricky to diagnose, but once properly fixed they tend to stay fixed. My repair was done about 8 months ago and I have not experienced any recurring issues or electrical problems since then.

The dealer fixed my audio system about 3 months ago. The radio silence was driving me crazy but turned out to be simpler than expected. They found a loose wire connection at the main volume control unit behind the head unit. The repair came to 380€ total, mostly labor costs since they had to remove several panels to access the wiring. Much better than replacing the whole audio system which they initially thought might be needed. Everything has been working perfectly since the fix. The car speakers are all functioning normally and the auxiliary input connects without issues. I was worried the problem might return but the sound quality has remained crystal clear. Really glad I took it to them rather than trying DIY fixes that could have made things worse. My advice to anyone with similar audio connectivity problems, get it checked by a professional. Modern car sound systems are complex and interconnected. What seems like a simple issue can have deeper causes that need proper diagnosis.
