Thanks for sharing that experience with the wiring harness. Im dealing with nearly identical engine stalling and performance issues on my T-Cross and your repair story sounds very familiar. Since access to the fuel system seems labor intensive, could you share what the total repair cost was in your case? Has everything stayed fixed or have you noticed any other fuel pump related problems since the repair?

Glad I can update you on my Taigo repair. Since having the automotive diagnosis and repair done, the car runs perfectly with zero engine stalling or pump failure issues. The total cost was surprisingly reasonable at 95€, mainly because it was just the electrical connection causing the fuel delivery problems, not the pump itself. The mechanic found the connector plug was the root cause, so no expensive parts were needed. The labor wasnt as intensive as initially feared since they could access the wiring through the access panel without removing the entire fuel tank. My car performance returned to normal immediately after the fix. Fuel consumption is back to standard levels and the engine starts reliably every time. Its been 6 months now with no recurring issues. The key was finding a shop willing to properly diagnose the electrical system rather than just assuming a complete fuel pump replacement was needed. Sounds like your T-Cross might have a similar issue given the matching symptoms.

Finally went to get my T-Cross checked after getting your helpful advice. Found a specialist garage that actually took the time to properly diagnose the issue. Just like in your case, they discovered it wasnt a complete fuel pump failure but a damaged wiring connector causing all the engine stalling problems. The repair ended up costing 120€ including the diagnostic work. They had to remove the access panel but managed to fix everything in about 2 hours. Car performance is completely back to normal now, no more rough running or starting issues. Fuel consumption has dropped back to regular levels too. Really glad I asked here first instead of rushing to replace the entire fuel pump. Having a proper automotive diagnosis saved me from an unnecessary expensive repair. The car mechanics I found were thorough and explained everything clearly. Its been running perfectly for the past few weeks with no signs of any fuel system problems.

Had similar symptoms with a VW Taigo from 2019. After proper automotive diagnosis, it turned out to be a faulty wiring harness connector at the fuel pump assembly. The symptoms matched exactly, inconsistent starting, rough idle, increased fuel consumption, and unusual stalling. The auto repair required removing the back seat and fuel tank access panel. The fuel pump was actually working fine, but the corroded connector was causing intermittent electrical supply. This caused the pump to operate at incorrect pressures, leading to fuel delivery issues and poor engine performance. The fix involved replacing the entire wiring harness connector and cleaning the fuel pump contact points. While not the most expensive repair, accessing the components made it a time-intensive job requiring specialized tools and expertise. This type of issue can be misdiagnosed as a complete fuel pump failure or fuel injector problems. A proper diagnostic scan and electrical testing is crucial before replacing major components. The repair resolved all symptoms and the car has run perfectly since. The initial symptoms you describe strongly suggest fuel delivery issues. Would recommend finding a shop that specializes in VW fuel system diagnostics for accurate troubleshooting.
