Thanks for sharing your experience with the temperature sensor replacement. I faced similar issues with my T-Cross last winter and got it fixed. The symptoms matched exactly what you described, faulty AC, mirror heating problems and frozen washer nozzles. After proper sensor diagnostics, my car temperature sensor also showed both connector and wiring problems. Good to know others have dealt with this too. Would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was in your case? Also curious if everything has been working fine since the fix. My mechanic mentioned these issues can sometimes return if the new sensor is not properly protected against moisture.

Just wanted to follow up on the repair costs. In my case, the outside temperature sensor fault was much simpler than initially feared. The mechanic found a damaged cable connection near the sensor plug, which was causing all those issues. Total cost was 95€ for fixing the faulty connection, no need for a complete sensor replacement. Since the repair 8 months ago, all systems have been working perfectly. The vehicle temperature gauge shows accurate readings, and there have been no issues with the AC, mirror heating, or washer nozzles. The mechanic applied a protective sealant around the connector to prevent future moisture damage. The key was finding a shop that properly diagnosed the sensor malfunction instead of just replacing parts. A thorough check of the wiring and connections often reveals simpler fixes than complete sensor replacement.

Thanks for the input. Just wanted to close this thread with my repair outcome. After seeing these replies, I took my car to a different mechanic who actually specializes in electrical diagnostics. Turns out the outside temperature sensor on my T-Cross had a similar wiring issue, but needed a complete replacement due to internal corrosion. The total repair came to 285€ including labor and parts. The temperature monitoring system works perfectly now, all electrical features are back to normal including the AC and mirror heating. The mechanic installed the new car temperature sensor with additional weatherproofing and explained that proper sealing is crucial for preventing future issues. They also updated the climate control software as part of the fix. The whole repair took about 3 hours and was definitely worth finding a specialist who knew what to look for. Way better experience than my previous mechanic who just kept suggesting unusual fixes without proper diagnosis.

Had the same issue on a 2019 T-Roc. The outside temperature sensor malfunction caused multiple systems to act erratically since many comfort features rely on accurate temperature readings. The vehicle temperature gauge showed incorrect values, which triggered the safety protocol keeping the AC offline. The sensor diagnostics revealed both a wiring issue and corroded connector pins near the front bumper where the sensor sits. The fix required: Complete sensor calibration after replacement, Rewiring of the connection points, Replacement of the connector housing, Update of the climate control module This was not a minor repair as it affected multiple systems. The sensor is integrated with several comfort and safety features, so proper diagnostics were essential. After the repair, all systems returned to normal operation, AC, mirror heating, and washer nozzles all functioning correctly. Worth noting that these sensor issues often start small but can escalate to affect more systems if left unaddressed. The connector housing tends to be the main failure point rather than the sensor itself.
