T-Roc ECU Errors After Service, Repair Gone Wrong

After getting my car back from service, Im having issues with the onboard diagnostics showing electrical errors. The navigation stopped working completely. My T-Roc from 2018 (gasoline, 102251km) stored multiple error codes in the ECU. The mechanic charged me 280€ but clearly did not fix the problems. Could this be related to a vehicle software malfunction? Has anyone experienced similar control unit problems after a regular service? Looking for recommendations on how to handle this with the workshop.

Experienced similar control module issues on a 2015 VW Golf TSI after routine maintenance. The software malfunction symptoms matched, navigation failure and multiple ECU codes. The root cause was an incomplete software reset during service work. When technicians disconnect the battery, the control unit can sometimes get stuck in a conflicting state. This creates false error codes and system malfunctions. The fix required a complete control module reprogramming and software reset protocol: Full system diagnostic scan, Control unit hard reset, Proper battery disconnect/reconnect sequence, Updated software flash, Module relearning procedure This was a serious issue requiring specialized diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-specific programming tools. The vehicle software needed proper initialization, not just clearing codes. Without the correct programming sequence, control modules can retain corrupt data. Would recommend returning to the workshop and specifically requesting a full control unit diagnostic and reprogram. The current symptoms strongly indicate incomplete software initialization rather than hardware problems.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Dealing with something very similar on my T-Roc right now. The onboard diagnostics keep showing unusual errors even after the initial repair attempt. The ECU problems really match what you described, especially the navigation issues. Did you get it properly fixed after the complete software reset and reprogramming? Wondering how much you ended up paying for the actual fix and if the vehicle software has been stable since then? Im trying to figure out if I should push the workshop to redo everything or find a different specialist.

The complete software reset and ECU reprogramming fixed all issues permanently. The control unit required a full diagnostic scan and proper initialization, exactly what was missing after the initial service. I paid 240€ for the complete control module reprogramming. This included updating the vehicle software and resetting all onboard diagnostics properly. The price was fair considering the specialized equipment and manufacturer-specific programming tools needed. Since the proper fix was done, the navigation works perfectly and no more error codes appear in the diagnostics. The ECU problems disappeared completely after the control unit got properly reprogrammed. Would definitely recommend insisting on a full software reset and reprogramming at your current workshop. Make sure they specifically check for initialization errors in the control module. A proper fix requires more than just clearing codes, the entire system needs correct programming protocols.

I took my car back to the workshop today and showed them all the error messages. The service manager admitted they likely caused the software bug during the routine maintenance when disconnecting the battery. They performed a complete vehicle software reset and control unit reprogramming at no additional cost since it was their oversight. The technician spent about 2 hours doing a full diagnostic scan and proper initialization of all systems. Happy to report the navigation is working perfectly now and all the electrical errors have disappeared from the onboard diagnostics. The control unit is functioning normally after the proper software update and module relearning procedure. This experience taught me to be more specific about proper software reset protocols when getting service work done. At least the workshop took responsibility and fixed their mistake without charging extra. The vehicle software has been stable since the proper reprogramming.
