T-Roc Sunroof Stuck: Calibration vs Repair Guide

Having issues with my T-Roc sunroof mechanism. The sunblind is completely stuck and the convertible top wont move at all. Getting a sunroof not initialized error on the display. Anyone dealt with similar sunroof troubleshooting before? Really want to avoid another bad mechanic experience. Car details: 2023 T-Roc, gas engine, 119684km. Did sunroof calibration fix this for anyone or is this likely a bigger issue?

Recently had a similar sunroof control issue with my 2020 VW Tiguan. The sunroof mechanism displayed the same not initialized error and the sunblind stopped responding completely. The root cause turned out to be significant: the sunroof control module had a complete failure. The repair required: Full replacement of the sunroof control unit, Complete recalibration of the sunroof mechanism, Reset and coding of the new module, Testing of all sunroof positions This was not a quick fix, the vehicle needed specialized diagnostic equipment and the control module had to be properly coded to match the car systems. A simple sunroof calibration would not resolve this type of failure. Based on your symptoms, especially the complete lack of movement and initialization error, your T-Roc likely has the same control module issue. This requires professional repair with proper diagnostic tools. The sunroof troubleshooting process needs to be done systematically to ensure all components work together after the fix. Consider having this checked soon, as continued use might cause additional damage to the sunroof mechanism components.

Thanks for the detailed feedback on your Tiguan sunroof operation problems. The symptoms sound exactly like what my T-Roc is experiencing. Good to know a full control module replacement was needed rather than just recalibration. Would you mind sharing what the repair ended up costing? Also curious if youve had any other sunroof system issues since getting it fixed?

Happy to report back on my Tiguan sunroof repair experience. The sunroof not initialized error was completely resolved after visiting the mechanic. They performed the necessary coding and recalibration of the sunroof control module without needing a full replacement as initially suspected. The total cost came to 75€ for the diagnostic work and coding. This was much better than expected, especially since I feared needing the entire control unit replaced. The sunroof operation has been flawless since the repair, no error messages, smooth movement of both the sunblind and glass panel. The sunroof troubleshooting revealed it was purely a software issue rather than hardware failure. Regular sunroof calibration is now part of my maintenance routine to prevent future problems. From what youve described about your T-Roc, it sounds like you might have a similar software-related issue. Worth having it checked soon before any mechanical damage occurs.

Thanks for the input. Quick update on my T-Roc sunroof situation, took it to the shop yesterday and got some good news. The mechanic found that, like the Tiguan case mentioned, it was mainly a software glitch in the sunroof control module. The repair was pretty straightforward. They ran a full diagnostic, performed a sunroof reset, and recoded the module. Total bill came to 90€, which felt fair considering I was worried about needing a complete mechanism replacement. The sunroof system is working perfectly now, no more error messages and the sunblind moves smoothly. The mechanic recommended doing a sunroof calibration every 6 months as preventive maintenance, which seems like solid advice. Really relieved it wasnt as serious as initially feared. Thanks again for helping me avoid another frustrating mechanic experience.
