Tacoma Key Fob Battery

I have a 2023 Toyota Tacoma hybrid, and lately I've been getting a super annoying 'key battery low' warning. At first, I thought it was just a message, but now the keyless access doesn't work anymore! Plus, I plugged it into a code reader and it says there's an error stored in the error memory? I can't unlock or lock the doors properly anymore. Could it really just be the battery after less than two years? Any ideas?

I have a Tacoma too, though not sure what year it is exactly. I had similar issues a while back. The 'key battery low' warning can be a real pain. 'Keyless access' (that means you can open your car without pressing a button, right?) stopped working for me as well. Have you tried changing the battery in the key fob yet? That might be the culprit.

Yeah, honestly, for me it was just the battery. Replacing it is pretty straightforward – there are tons of videos online that show you how. The error code? It might disappear after you swap the battery, but honestly I didn't even bother checking. If changing the battery doesn't fix it though, might be worth taking it to a workshop to get it checked out.

It worked! I changed the battery in the key fob, and everything is working perfectly again. Keyless entry is back, and the error message is gone. A new battery cost me only 37€! Thanks a ton for the advice!
