Tacoma NOx Sensor Failure

My 2006 Toyota Tacoma with a gasoline engine is giving me fits! The check engine light is on AGAIN. I pulled the codes, and it's showing a NOx sensor failure. To make matters worse, I'm pretty sure I've got an exhaust leak somewhere too. I've been under the truck checking all the cables and plugs I can reach on the emission sensor, and everything looks okay. Could a bad connection really be the culprit? What else could it be, catalytic converter? I'm pulling my hair out here!

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my old Saab 9-3. Kept getting a check engine light. You said you checked the connections...did you try cleaning them?

Cleaning them, huh? I just eyeballed them, didn't see any corrosion or anything obvious. What did you use to clean the connection on your Saab? Was it a specific kind of cleaner or just like, electrical contact cleaner?

Electrical contact cleaner did the trick for me. But honestly, after all that messing around, the light kept coming back. Ended up taking it to a shop.

Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Guess I'll bite the bullet and take it in. The shop diagnosed it as a faulty NOx sensor due to a defective plug connection. They charged me 95€ to fix the connection. Thanks for sharing your experience, at least I know I wasn't completely missing something obvious!
