Talento Camshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Fiat Talento with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough starts and reduced engine power, with a diagnostic error code indicating a camshaft sensor issue. The initial inspection of the sensor and wiring showed no obvious damage, but a faulty connection was suspected. A continuity test and professional diagnosis confirmed a defective cable or plug connection, which was then repaired.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'thoroughly checked,' what exactly did you do? I wiggled the connector a bit and didn't see any obvious damage, but maybe I'm missing something. Was there a specific test you performed, or did you just replace the sensor?

I understand. In my situation, I did a continuity test on the wiring with a multimeter. However, since I'm not an expert, I took it to a workshop afterwards. They confirmed the sensor was faulty. Given that you already suspect the camshaft sensor and have similar symptoms, it might be worth getting it professionally diagnosed to avoid unnecessary replacements.

Appreciate the advice. I'll take it to the shop as suggested. They ran some diagnostics and you were right, the cable or plug connection of the camshaft sensor was indeed defective! Got it sorted for 95€. Thanks again!

Hello, I had a similar issue with my Opel Corsa a while back. The symptoms you described – rough idling and reduced power – sound very familiar. It also turned out to be related to a sensor. In my case, it was the crankshaft position sensor, but the symptoms were nearly identical. Have you checked the cable and plug connection thoroughly? Sometimes a visual inspection isn't enough to spot a subtle break or corrosion.
