Talisman Air Suspension Fault

Good day. I'm experiencing an issue with my 2015 Renault Talisman diesel. The air suspension seems to have given up. The car is sitting noticeably lower on one side, almost leaning, and it feels like I'm driving a go-kart over cobblestones, every bump is amplified! I've checked the error memory and there's a fault logged related to the pneumatic suspension. Also, a warning message keeps popping up on the speedometer display. The mileage is currently at 75990 km. Has anyone encountered something similar? Could this be a defective air spring valve?

Greetings. The symptoms you describe strongly suggest an issue with the air suspension system, specifically a malfunctioning air spring valve. The leaning, bumpy ride, and error messages are all consistent with this. The air suspension, sometimes called pneumatic suspension, uses air springs instead of conventional steel springs to maintain ride height and provide a smoother ride. If a valve fails, the air spring can't properly inflate or maintain pressure, leading to the problems you're experiencing. Have you noticed any unusual noises, such as hissing, coming from the suspension area?

Thank you for your insight. No, I haven't specifically heard any hissing sounds, but then again, I might not have been listening closely enough. If it is indeed the air spring valve, is this something that requires immediate attention, or can it wait a short while? And is there any way to be absolutely certain it's the valve before I commit to repairs?

It's advisable to address the suspension issue promptly. Continuing to drive with a faulty air spring valve can put additional strain on other components of the suspension system, potentially leading to further damage and increased repair costs. While a visual inspection might offer some clues, a definitive diagnosis typically requires specialized diagnostic equipment to test the valve's functionality and identify any leaks. Given the symptoms and error codes, a defective valve is highly probable. However, for absolute certainty, I would recommend taking it to a qualified workshop with experience in pneumatic suspension systems for a thorough evaluation.

I appreciate the advice! I'll book an appointment with a reputable workshop that specializes in suspension systems. After inspection it turned out to be the suspension air bag valve, the mechanic replaced it and the issue seems to be resolved. The repair cost was 590€. Thank you again!
